Future Evolution?

The human body is badly designed. I noticed that it has many problems and if someone designed  a body these problems simply just wouldn’t appear.

What about birth for instance?  Pushing out a baby through a small hole (well normally anyway) and causing all that pain is just a stupid design.  Then if things go wrong there is a caesarean section which is really in replacement of a big zip that would be much more convenient, save the surgeons a lot or hassle and the woman less pain.  Not mentioning the big things that can go wrong as they are too numerous (like death) there’s other design problems like having only one heart.  Our whole life depends on this functioning normally and more often than not it doesn’t. There is also only one spinal cord and if that gets broken you lose various parts of the body that tend to flop around and become just lumps of meat.

Lets Hope This Isn't a Result of Evolution!

So what can be done to rectify this?  Well don’t ask me because I don’t know but I did come across something the other day that I think  might just help out, Computers. If you are currently into science fiction you would have heard about this and even if you’re not then this  subject has been on the news.  It is recognized by lots of high-class scientists and that makes it big news. Take this CNN article for  starters.

Us After Singularity?

It’s called a singularity.  It’s when computers become so powerful that you will be able to upload your  consciousness into a computer and still be you. That nowadays seems totally impossible and that’s why it is  more written about in S.F. books. Vernor vinge thought of the idea and it continues to be hotly debated on  both fronts saying it will happen and no it won’t happen.

What would it be like living in a computer?  If it was an o rdinary PC then you would have to cross your fingers that it had a video camera and that it wasn’t turned off much, although if it was left on for 24 hours a day then it would get pretty boring looking at the bookcase across the room.  Hopefully talk would be turned on and you could use that to communicate with the people using it.  It would be nice if it wasn’t some grubby teenager and was some gorgeous model instead typing the keyboard.

In reality it wouldn’t be like that as by the time a consciousness can be uploaded into a computer it wouldn’t be a PC as we know it. What would be ready for my consciousness would be one of those nice shiny robots that you find in films like terminator, and yes I wouldn’t mind the weapons as well. In fact thinking about it I could do with that right now, the power would be immensely pleasing. The big trouble with this as far as I can see is that there would be a lot of shiny robots walking around and not enough space unless off course they destroy each other in a melee of laser fire.

Future Computer

The obvious solution to overpopulation of the Earth is populating the rest of the universe with a disease called human beings. By the time uploading is  possible then I can see that it would be insane to think that we hadn’t populated a few planets here and there. The robots with our consciousness in them  would be ideal for settling these planets which are probably going to be many years away. The closest star is just over 4 ly so everything obviously would  depend on the speed of the ships.

So it looks like evolution will take  us from the apes into something we have designed And I would say there is nothing wrong with that it is just progress.
